Senate Bill Allows State Sales Tax on Internet Buys

A recently introduced U.S. Senate bill would allow states to collect sales tax on purchases made over the Internet. It is being praised by the storefront retailing industry and condemned by the Direct Marketing Association and a coalition of online retailers, who say it unfairly penalizes small businesses doing remote state sales.
